School
In school ~ {I homeschool} I decided we would take the time out to learn about the history of Israel. And it has been quite fun. We started out with Abraham and Sarah, and the issues that we see even today from the 'hooking up' with Hagar to bring Ishmael into existence.
Wow ~ how awesomely peaceful would the Middle East be today if Abraham and Sarah would have trusted G-d and HIS timing. Hmmmmmmm..........
Anyway ~ we have enjoyed the journey from the judges and the tabernacle to the building of the temple by Solomon and the destruction of Herod's temple by Titus in 70 AD. We learned about the Jewish government back in the Bible times ~ the Sanhedrin. And tomorrow I'm hoping to teach about the modern day form of government there ~ and look at the blueprints for the future temple.
We learned who stole the Temple Mount from the Jewish people and built the Dome of the Rock. And what the significance is today ~ Once again going back to the Sarah/Abraham/Hagar love triangle.
My goal is to instill a love for the land Israel and a desire to support it.

Such lovers of peace, those 'palestinians' are. Such sweet kind peace loving people they are NOT. Anyone who doesn't condemn these acts of terror should be the first ones that their stones are hurled at.
It is such shameless reprehensible acts that they commit. Why do so many not condemn them?! I will never understand.
Here are a couple of news articles about these "sweet loving" people (note the sarcasm) ~
Stones hurled and injure baby girl
Stones hurled at car and kill father and son
Gonna post at some point what we have been studying in Bible class. Uncanny in this day and age. Truly it is.

What can I do?
If you are anything like me, you love Israel. And you want to do something to make a difference. But, if you are also like me ~ You are NOT Jewish. I long to be Jewish. I would love to be able to make Aliyah to Israel at some point in the not so distant future. But, the thing is, I'M NOT JEWISH. So, that is a little wrench in my plans!
So, I have a friend on facebook that has given me some good links to look at. And on one of those links, one article in particular caught my attention. It was called 54 ways you can help Israel. This is the article. I hope you find it helpful. I have found it very helpful.
I wish you all a wonderful Shabbat and Laila Tov!
Shalom ~

And Just one more for tonight
I saw this video on one of my facebook links and thought it was so pretty. And remember a couple posts ago, I mentioned my favorite historical fiction books by Brock and Bodie Thoene? when I read those books I try to picture who the characters are. I would say (if you know the books) that this violinist makes me think of Jewish violinist and smuggler Rudy Dorbransky and the beautiful singer makes me think of Rachel Lubetkin Sachar!
I believe the blessings or the cursings of nations are inextricably linked to how they treat the chosen people of G-d. It is no accident that G-d told Abraham in Genesis 12.3
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
And let me tell ya, HE MEANT IT. There are websites that address this in relation to America. Every time a president of my country has made unrealistic demands on Israel, something happens to our country ~ EVERY TIME. Generally it is by way of "natural disasters". And our current President ~ Barack Hussein Obama ~ is considered by many as being the Most Hostile Sitting President in the History of Israel. And how very true.
We are smack in the middle of Tornado season, and pretty much those in the midwest have suffered severe weather before. But this year, after BHussein Obama said this:
So while the core issues of the conflict must be negotiated, the basis of those negotiations is clear: a viable Palestine, and a secure Israel. The United States believes that negotiations should result in two states, with permanent Palestinian borders with Israel, Jordan, and Egypt, and permanent Israeli borders with Palestine. The borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states. The Palestinian people must have the right to govern themselves, and reach their potential, in a sovereign and contiguous state.
We have had some of the worst storms in our history. Joplin Missouri has been utterly devastated by the largest type of tornado ~ an F5. When I say devastated, I mean it. When I saw pictures of the devastation, tears just started falling. And I had a hard time breathing.
It is *MY* firm belief that G-d is giving us a jolt to wake us up and say ~ I bless those who bless Israel, and I will make you WISH you never cursed Israel. May G-d have mercy on us. I pray several times a day for those in the midwest who have been hardest hit with this severe weather. And I pray that G-d in HIS infinite mercy and grace will understand that BHussein Obama does NOT speak for me, my family, and practically everyone I know. We stand with Israel. Because in loving and supporting Israel, we are exercising a mitzvah (duty) G-d gave Gentiles when HE made this promise to Abraham many many years ago.
So, I ask you ~ I STAND WITH ISRAEL, will you?
Shalom ~

I love Israel. As a born again believer, I feel that one of my duties is to love and honor Israel. My love for Israel runs deep. I remember it was my 7th grade English teacher who introduced me to a set of books that resonated with me. Her name is Mrs. Schmuck and the series of books she recommended was the Zion Chronicles by authors Brock and Bodie Thoene. Since then, I have collected and read multiple times all her Series. They aren't just fiction books, but are history books with their fictional characters built into them. The first book I read for a 7th grade book report was called the Gates of Zion. And it is set in 1947 Israel and the whole series tells the struggles and the birthpangs of the Birth of Israel. And after reading these books, if it doesn't inspire a deep LOVE of Israel and her people, then there might be something slightly wrong with you ;) The Thoene's subsequent series deal with the Holocaust, WWI, and Israel during the time of Christ. That is my favorite series ~ The A.D. Chronicles. Brock and Bodie Thoene have an awesome ability to make you want to read Scriptures and learn the deep love of our Saviour. They are just awesome authors! LOVE them! ~ And if you tag Bodie in a post on Facebook ~ SHE RESPONDS. She is such an awesome person!
Anyways ~ reading their love of Israel just inspired my deep love of Israel. And thanks to the internet, I'm beginning to learn a TON about modern day Israel. And I am practically addicted to a few facebook links that post the most beautiful pictures and awesome youtube vids of Israel. Here's one that I saw today. Who WOULDN'T want to go at least visit Israel. It inspires me to move there! I know it won't be today, or tomorrow and probably not for at least a few years from now, but that is my goal. And I have an amazing husband who is willing to consider it! He's awesome too!
Here is the video I saw tonight. I hope you enjoy ~ {don't forget to pause the music on the left ;) }

Israeli's are just spunky. I love that! President Obama has made some really horrible suggestions last week about Israel giving up some land that they had shed blood and tears over. A friend of mine said ~ Obama might as well call up England and suggest we go back to pre-1776 borders. Ridiculous.
We need to let Israel dictate to us how to best run their land. And we need to support Israel, and keep our mouths shut on how to run their country. We are a blessed nation because *I believe* of our support and love for Israel.
Here is an article today about Israeli's protesting BHussein Obama's "suggestions"

The more I find on Facebook the more videos I'm seeing. Israel is about the size of our state of New Jersey. That is tiny. And when the President said this past week that Israel needs to go back to it's 1967 border lines, I then knew how anti-Israeli he was. There wasn't ever much of a question of it, but that just solidified it in my mind. Asking Israel to do that would be equivalent to asking Israel to commit suicide. That would make defense of Israel so VERY close to impossible to do. Here is a good video of why the '67 borders is not a good idea

What has Israel contributed to the world?
Did you ever wonder, why does Israel even exist?! I mean (note the sarcasm here) wouldn't the world be so much more peaceful without Israel? Well, here is a cute video that *sarcastically* asks that when you choose to boycott Israel, here's a list of products NOT to use. You might be surprised. I for one will NOT be boycotting Israel! What about you :D
Remember to turn the music off before watching the video!

Today ~ it is May 22, 2011 ~ The world did NOT end yesterday. But I firmly believe with all the events going on, the Rapture truly is not too far away. But today is Sunday, May 22, 2011. In Hebrew it is Yom Rishon, the 18th day of Iyar 5771.
Here is a great article. Sarah Palin is the reason I voted for her running mate in 2008. She is a staunch defender of Israel. We need someone like her in office. We need someone in office who is going to look at the people calling for a Palestinian state and say ~ GO TO JORDAN. Carve a state out of one of the surrounding nations, and leave Israel's tiny amount of land alone. Our current President is a great defender of a Palestinian state. He needs to reverse his views. Israel should most definitely NOT go back to the 1967 land lines. I believe Israel is due more land than they have now. Gaza should belong to Israel. The West Bank and the Golan Heights should belong completely to Israel. And if anyone doesn't like being Israeli, then they should consider themselves citizens of another country ~ Jordan, Syria, Iran, any of them. Let those nations contribute their land to make a Palestinian state. Leave Israel ALONE. The land was promised to her by the one true G-d.
Any ways ~ off that soap box! here is a great article about Sarah Palin promoting the success of PM Netanyahu Sarah Palin Supports Israel

1948 Declaration of Israeli Independence
1948 - Declaration of Independence
ERETZ-ISRAEL (Hebrew) - the Land of Israel, Palestine] was the birthplace of the Jewish people. Here their spiritual, religious and political identity was shaped. Here they first attained to statehood, created cultural values of national and universal significance and gave to the world the eternal Book of Books.
After being forcibly exiled from their land, the people kept faith with it throughout their Dispersion and never ceased to pray and hope for their return to it and for the restoration in it of their political freedom.
Impelled by this historic and traditional attachment, Jews strove in every successive generation to re-establish themselves in their ancient homeland. In recent decades they returned in their masses. Pioneers, ma'pilim [(Hebrew) - immigrants coming to Eretz-Israel in defiance of restrictive legislation] and defenders, they made deserts bloom, revived the Hebrew language, built villages and towns, and created a thriving community controlling its own economy and culture, loving peace but knowing how to defend itself, bringing the blessings of progress to all the country's inhabitants, and aspiring towards independent nationhood.
In the year 5657 (1897), at the summons of the spiritual father of the Jewish State, Theodore Herzl, the First Zionist Congress convened and proclaimed the right of the Jewish people to national rebirth in its own country.
This right was recognized in the Balfour Declaration of the 2nd November, 1917, and re-affirmed in the |Mandate of the League of Nations| which, in particular, gave international sanction to the historic connection between the Jewish people and Eretz-Israel and to the right of the Jewish people to rebuild its National Home.
The catastrophe which recently befell the Jewish people - the massacre of millions of Jews in Europe - was another clear demonstration of the urgency of solving the problem of its homelessness by re-establishing in Eretz-Israel the Jewish State, which would open the gates of the homeland wide to every Jew and confer upon the Jewish people the status of a fully privileged member of the community of nations.
Survivors of the Nazi holocaust in Europe, as well as Jews from other parts of the world, continued to migrate to Eretz-Israel, undaunted by difficulties, restrictions and dangers, and never ceased to assert their right to a life of dignity, freedom and honest toil in their national homeland.
In the Second World War, the Jewish community of this country contributed its full share to the struggle of the freedom- and peace-loving nations against the forces of Nazi wickedness and, by the blood of its soldiers and its war effort, gained the right to be reckoned among the peoples who founded the United Nations.
On the 29th November, 1947, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution calling for the establishment of a Jewish State in Eretz-Israel; the General Assembly required the inhabitants of Eretz-Israel to take such steps as were necessary on their part for the implementation of that resolution. This recognition by the United Nations of the right of the Jewish people to establish their State is irrevocable. This right is the natural right of the Jewish people to be masters of their own fate, like all other nations, in their own sovereign State.
ACCORDINGLY WE, MEMBERS OF THE PEOPLE'S COUNCIL, REPRESENTATIVES OF THE JEWISH COMMUNITY OF ERETZ-ISRAEL AND OF THE ZIONIST MOVEMENT, ARE HERE ASSEMBLED ON THE DAY OF THE TERMINATION OF THE BRITISH MANDATE OVER ERETZ-ISRAEL AND, BY VIRTUE OF OUR NATURAL AND HISTORIC RIGHT AND ON THE STRENGTH OF THE RESOLUTION OF THE UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY, HEREBY DECLARE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A JEWISH STATE IN ERETZ-ISRAEL, TO BE KNOWN AS THE STATE OF ISRAEL.
WE DECLARE that, with effect from the moment of the termination of the Mandate being tonight, the eve of Sabbath, the 6th Iyar, 5708 (15th May, 1948), until the establishment of the elected, regular authorities of the State in accordance with the Constitution which shall be adopted by the Elected Constituent Assembly not later than the 1st October 1948, the People's Council shall act as a Provisional Council of State, and its executive organ, the People's Administration, shall be the Provisional Government of the Jewish State, to be called "Israel."
THE STATE OF ISRAEL will be open for Jewish immigration and for the Ingathering of the Exiles; it will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex; it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture; it will safeguard the Holy Places of all religions; and it will be faithful to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
THE STATE OF ISRAEL is prepared to cooperate with the agencies and representatives of the United Nations in implementing the resolution of the General Assembly of the 29th November, 1947, and will take steps to bring about the economic union of the whole of Eretz-Israel.
WE APPEAL to the United Nations to assist the Jewish people in the building-up of its State and to receive the State of Israel into the community of nations.
WE APPEAL - in the very midst of the onslaught launched against us now for months - to the Arab inhabitants of the State of Israel to preserve peace and participate in the upbuilding of the State on the basis of full and equal citizenship and due representation in all its provisional and permanent institutions.
WE EXTEND our hand to all neighbouring states and their peoples in an offer of peace and good neighbourliness, and appeal to them to establish bonds of cooperation and mutual help with the sovereign Jewish people settled in its own land. The State of Israel is prepared to do its share in a common effort for the advancement of the entire Middle East.
WE APPEAL to the Jewish people throughout the Diaspora to rally round the Jews of Eretz-Israel in the tasks of immigration and upbuilding and to stand by them in the great struggle for the realization of the age-old dream - the redemption of Israel.
PLACING OUR TRUST IN THE ALMIGHTY, WE AFFIX OUR SIGNATURES TO THIS PROCLAMATION AT THIS SESSION OF THE PROVISIONAL COUNCIL OF STATE, ON THE SOIL OF THE HOMELAND, IN THE CITY OF TEL-AVIV, ON THIS SABBATH EVE, THE 5TH DAY OF IYAR, 5708 (14TH MAY,1948).

Israel has always been close to my heart. ALWAYS. I have always believed what G-d said to Abraham in Genesis 12.3 I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
My heart has always longed to be a blessing to Israel.
And every day I Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who love you. Psalm 122.6
I just wish I could do more. I stand united with Israel. I support Israel. Do you?

About me ~
My name is Tara. I am not Jewish. Oh, how I long to be though. My heart is Jewish. I love the nation of Israel.
I am an American citizen who is deeply disappointed with the current administration and how they are handling our country's relationship with Israel. I feel we are starting to (our country) step away from supporting Israel. That is scary for us. We love Israel.
We (my family) are Bible believing Christians. And we support the nation of Israel.
My dream is to one day live in Israel. And so this blog will be about our journey to learning Israeli culture. We are going to start learning rudimentary Hebrew.
I would just like to voice my support and love of Israel. I hope this blog will become a great place for people to come and learn and walk this journey with us!
Never forget ~
Shalom ~
